FAQ

SHIPPING & RETURNS QUESTIONS

Are there delays?

There are no delays with processing time on my end (ready-to-ship items ship within 3-5 business days) but USPS is still experiencing occasional delays due to the effects of COVID-19, so I appreciate your patience if your order transit time happens to be a longer than usual. Please know that we have no control over this and that the only information we know is the same information you see on your tracking. Unless your order is shipped via Priority Mail, which is insured, and in transit for over 15 days (if shipping within the US), we cannot provide a refund or replacement, so please be patient as most orders do arrive eventually!

When will you restock?

To see when our next shop update will be, we recommend following us on instagram and checking the bio for the next shop update date. If there is something you'd like to see in the shop update, send us a DM and we'll try to make some of those for you!

How long will it take for my order to ship out?

Order turnaround depends on whether your item is "ready-to-ship" or "made-to-order." Items that are marked "ready-to-ship," such as pottery made for a shop update or stickers, will usually take up to 3 business days to be packaged with love and dropped off at the post office, or up to 5 business days if ordered the same day/weekend of a shop update due to high order volumes. Items that are "made-to-order," such as any jewelry and custom orders, may take 1 to 2 weeks before it is completed, packaged and dropped off at the post office. "Pre-order" pottery will have the turnaround in the description. If you do not want to wait for "made-to-order" items, we recommend checking our instagram to see when our next shop update will be as these normally include many "ready-to-ship" items. Please note that this does not include transit times.

If your order is placed during the holiday season, a holiday, a sale day, or during a shop update/new collection launch, your order may take longer as these are times that we receive many orders at once.

If you have any questions as to how long your order will take to be shipped, please email us at pottymouthjewelry@gmail.com, and if you have a deadline you need to meet, please email us first to see if it is possible to meet that deadline.

How long will it take to get my order once it's shipped?

If you live in the US, orders can take between 1 to 5 days to be delivered once shipped out, although, USPS has been experiencing delays since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Please visit the USPS website to see their alerts. Note that transit time does not include processing time.

International orders typically take anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks, and in some cases longer due to the recent shipment volume increases shipping carriers have been experiencing. Please be patient as the majority of orders do arrive eventually!

Do I have to pay import fees or taxes?

If you are purchasing from outside of the US, you are also responsible for paying any import fees or taxes your country may charge you. When shipping internationally, we are legally required to declare the value of what is being sent, and it is up to the country that the package is being sent to to decide how much will be charged in import fees or taxes. From experience, it seems orders less than $15-$30 USD do not get charged import fees or taxes, but please look this up in your country prior to ordering.

Again, please do your research before placing an international order to see what the import fees and taxes are for your country. We cannot refund you or give you credit for any unexpected fees or taxes.

Do you ship to the UK?

If you are in the UK, we are now required to collect any applicable VAT & Taxes at the time of your order. Since we have not registered to calculate and collect these, we will use our Etsy to process your final payment as Etsy can calculate and collect these for us. This means that when you place an order through our website, it will be only to reserve those items. We will leave your payment as pending, send you a link for the same items so that you can pay them through Etsy with their calculate VAT/Taxes, and then cancel the order you originally placed on our website so that you are not charged twice. This is the only way we've been able to figure out you being able to snag a piece during an update fairly, as otherwise we'd have to split items between our website and Etsy which would make it confusing for other shoppers.

How long will it take for me to get my order if I ordered while the shop was on vacation?

If the shop is on vacation, there will be a notification at the top of the website and/or note at checkout letting you know when orders will begin processing. Allow up to 1-2 weeks from that date for your order to be shipped out. The day orders begin processing is not the same as the day that the order will be shipped out.

Do you accept returns or exchanges?

We can accept returns and exchanges as long you notify us within 7 days of receiving your order. You must pay for the return shipping and ship via a trackable method (we usually ship via USPS First Class Package). Contact us at pottymouthjewelry@gmail.com to let us know about your return or exchange and to receive the return address.

If your order is a custom order, we cannot accept returns or exchanges unless we made a mistake with the order.

My jewelry broke. What do I do?

If a piece of jewelry you ordered happened to break within 14 days of receiving your order because of a defect, contact us and we will exchange it for you. If a piece of jewelry broke after 14 days and you believe it is fixable (such as accidentally tugging too hard on a necklace), send us a picture to pottymouthjewelry@gmail.com, and we'll see if we can get it fixed for you.

We cannot issue refunds for any orders that may have broken after 7 days of receiving your order, or orders that look intentionally broken or broken by accident.

TIPS: If you happen to accidentally tug too hard on a necklace or dangle earrings and one of the jump rings open, you can easily close it back up with pliers if you have them! If your studs got wet and the glue came off, you can use superglue to reattach the post. This way, you'll save on shipping for an easy fix!

JEWELRY/PRODUCT QUESTIONS

What is hand stamped?

Hand stamping is the stamping of letters or symbols one by one with a hammer or pressure on a piece of metal jewelry. Because each letter or symbol is stamped one by one, this means that the letters may not always be perfectly straight or centered, and that the depth of some letters or symbols may vary. This makes each piece truly one-of-a-kind and special to you, and is the result of a piece made by hand.

Does stainless steel jewelry tarnish?

Stainless steel is a strong, durable metal that does not tarnish and is considered to be hypoallergenic. It is very rare for someone to experience allergies with stainless steel, but if you happen to be one of those rare cases, we are happy to exchange or offer store credit for your item upon your return. Stainless steel can also get wet and be worn in water without worry (unless you are wearing wooden studs - wood should never get wet, plus this can ruin the bond between the metal post and wood).

Can I get my bracelet wet?

Stainless steel bracelets and necklaces are fine in water and sweat as they are made of food grade stainless steel and are tarnish resistant. I wear mine 24/7 and have never experienced any issues! The only time I'd recommend taking them off is at the beach as sand can scratch the surface.

Can I get my earrings wet?

Earrings that are made with acrylic and stainless steel are ok to get wet. If your earrings are made with any wood, please do not get them wet. Water can damage the wood, any paint that may be on it, or loosen any glue used to adhere them to metal. Please store any wood jewelry away from moisture.

Can I wash my tote?

Totes are not meant to be washed and we recommend spot treating them if they get dirty or stained. If you must wash your tote, try washing by hand or flipping inside out and washing with cold water. Hang to dry.

POTTERY FAQ & IMPORTANT INFORMATION/DISCLAIMERS

Is all pottery food-safe?

Not always! Any item titled as a mug or plate is food-safe (unless otherwise noted). This means that the inside portions are completely coated in non-toxic, food-safe glazes. Always check the description of the particular item you are purchase/have purchased to make sure it is food-safe. If you purchase a piece that features natural clay inside, such as a planter or vase, then it is NOT food-safe. Sometimes small jewelry dishes or catch-all trays are not food safe as they may only be painted with underglaze where you would normally place food.

Can I put my pottery in the dishwasher?

Yes, BUT please know that hand washing is preferred to keep your pieces looking beautiful for as long as possible. Plus, we know that sometimes while loading a dishwasher, it's possible to accidentally hit your mug against something else. We personally keep our pots away from inside a full sink, set them on the counter beside the sink until we're ready to wash them, and either hand wash or keep wiggle room around them in the dishwasher.

Can I microwave my pottery?

As long as there are no luster finishes, yes! Each listing will state whether or not it has luster, but if your piece has any gold or white gold metallic finishes, then it is not microwave safe.

Can I drink hot liquids with my mug?

Of course! We recommend warming up your mug with some warm water prior to pouring extremely hot liquids such as water straight out of a boiling kettle as sometimes extreme, sudden, temperature changes could create cracks.

What happens if my pottery arrives broken?

We hope that this never happens since we take extra care to package your pieces, but of course, anything can happen once we hand over the package to a shipping carrier. Luckily, all pottery is shipped via an insured method, so as long as you email us a photo as soon as you open your package, we will refund you right away or make a similarly looking/priced piece for you that we can ship out after the next pottery shop update. If your piece does happen to arrive broken, PLEASE DO NOT FURTHER HANDLE AS SOON AS YOU NOTICE IT IS BROKEN. We cannot be held responsible for any injuries caused by trying to handle shattered pieces. You should be able to tell if it is broken either by shattered pieces heard heard moving around the unopened box or as soon as you open/start to unwrap it.

DISCLAIMER: By purchasing any pottery/ceramic goods, you acknowledge that you are purchasing a fragile item, that you will use each piece as it is intended, that you will handle it with an extreme amount of care in order to prevent it from breaking, and that any injuries to you or any person(s) caused by using our piece(s) cannot be held against us.
